Responsible for day-to-day operations of the company and in charge of Financial Control, Treasury and Asset Management, Information Technology, Operations and Compliance. Supervised 75 members of staff and reported to the CEO. During tenure, developed the company’s Information Technology Strategy and Policy and Procedures Manual; supervised working groups with the task of reviewing the company’s computer banking systems and developing an RFP with a view to identifying and implementing new systems. Played integral part on a committee overseeing the merger of the Bank with another investment company. As COO of the merged entity, also supervised the operations, administration and management of a Unitized Investment Company and a Pension Fund Management Scheme.

VICE PRESIDENT, FINANCE & INVESTMENTS (1996 – 1998)

Oversaw Risk & Securities Administration, Treasury and Investments, Financial Control, Compliance and Internal Control, Information Technology and Branch Operations. Also managed client investment funds and client relations. Had responsibility for liaising with and reporting to the regulatory authorities. Supervised 48 members of staff and reported to the President/CEO. Appointed to the Board of Directors in August 1996. 


Summary Achievements

Was instrumental in growing the company from $3 Billion to over $20 Billion in assets;

Grew Foreign Exchange trading volume from $500,000 to over $30 Million per month;

Improved profitability from insignificant levels to over $300 Million per annum;

In 2002, was a part of a Merger Committee that oversaw the successful merger with another Investment Management Company resulting in an entity with over 150 staff and over $25 Billion under management.

Responsibilities included developing, implementing and monitoring of operational policy guidelines, checking transactions for authenticity and accuracy, administering computer banking systems, credit administration, treasury management, passing accounting entries, administration of investment portfolio, preparing various regulatory, management and financial reports.

Responsibilities included soliciting and garnering of investment funds; setting investment rates and managing the company’s Treasury which included investing excess funds in Government Securities, Corporate Paper, and other financial institutions and managing the company’s banking relations. The duties of this position also included recording transactions at source, passing accounting entries and preparing various investment reports.

Summary Achievements

Was largely responsible for setting up the company’s first rural branch;

Increased overall assets of the company to $1 Billion in 2 years of operation;

Played a key role in the successful implementation of the BankMaster Banking System and other computer banking software;

Was responsible for setting up the company’s FX trading operations and establishing the company as a force in the market.

Pan Caribbean Merchant Bank Limited, 1991 – 1992

FOREIGN EXCHANGE (FX) TRADER

Responsibilities included trading foreign exchange, recording FX deals, reporting to management and to the Central Bank, maintaining client relations and managing foreign currency positions.

Summary Achievements

As Foreign Exchange Trader, played a major role in the bank becoming a significant player in the FX market and the largest independent FX Dealer;

Improved foreign exchange trading to between $1 Million to $2 Million on a daily basis.

Responsibilities included managing the Bank’s deposit portfolio (recording incoming investments at source, passing accounting entries, administration of liabilities portfolio, soliciting funds, setting investment rates, managing client relations and preparing client investment reports).

Responsibilities included marketing of asset products, booking of loan facilities, managing client relations, credit analysis and administration, product development, managing client arrears and preparing loan reports for management review and analysis.
